Biggest Pit Bull, how tall and strong?
When trying to determine the dog that could be named the biggest pit bull, one immediately runs into some controversy.
The first order of business would be to decide what, exactly, is a pit bull.
The United Kennel Club considers only one breed of dog to be a pit bull, and that is the American Pit Bull Terrier. Since they have strict standards for each breed that they recognize, they would say that the biggest pit bull could not weigh any more than 60 pounds for a male and 50 pounds for a female.
Any American Pit Bull Terrier that weighed more that the listed breed standards would not be considered a true pit bull by that group.
Many claim to have the biggest pit bulls, but there is no official source that gathers such information. As mentioned above, the United Kennel Club would not consider any dog weighing over 60 pounds to be a true pit bull, so they would not have those records.

Other people apply the term “pit bull” more broadly. Some owners have claimed they have pit bulls weighing in at nearly 150 pounds. While they may display pit bull characteristics, most would agree that a dog weighing that much has come from a line that has strayed outside of being a true pit bull.
Also, many of the claims about who has the biggest pitbull are unsubstantiated. Many post photos of what appear to be enormous dogs, but it’s difficult to tell from a photo alone how much a dog really weighs.

With no official source to turn to, there is really no way to definitively say which dog is the biggest pit. While it would be a fun fact, it is a task made even more difficult by the fact that various groups cannot agree on what type of dogs are pit bulls.

What most dog experts seem to agree on, regardless of which breeds they consider to be pit bulls, is that if a dog weighs over 90 pounds, it is not a true pit bull.
Some owners, and even some who claim to be breeders, say that they have the biggest pit bull with dogs weighing in at close to 150 pounds. Pit bulls on the small end weigh around 35 pounds. That’s quite a range for one group of dogs.
Regardless of the size, whether the biggest pit bull or the smallest, all pit bulls have the potential to become gentle, loving members of your family.
