Razor Edge Pitbulls

What are razor edge pitbulls?

As you know very well there is a great deal of confusion when it comes to pitbulls in general.

First is the breed confusion with people who cannot differenciate between the American Pitbull terrier, the American Staffordshire terrier and the Staffordshire bull terrier.

Then we have the color issue such as blue nose, red nose, brindle and so on.

And if this is not enough there are also other descriptions such as gotti pitbull, gator pitbull and razor edge pitbulls.

Razor edge pit bulls have been established as their own bully type breed for over 10 years now. The dogs are known to be very mellow and were bred for the purpose of companionship.

Many people believe that they are the result of the crossing of the American Pitbull Terrier, the American Staffordshire terrier and some other bulldog lineages.

Some people argue that razor edge pit bulls are not true pitbulls.

My answer to that is WHAT IS A TRUE PITBULL ANYWAY?

Dog breeders have and will always combine different breeds and try to come up with a new mix that meets their desired purpose be it for strenght, agility, hunting, guarding and so on.

Let´s take the bull terrier as an exemple.

People wanted to combine the strenght and power of the bulldog with the agility and relentlessnessof the fox terrier.

The result: Bull terrier

The Dogo Argentino is the result of mixing about 10 different breeds including Boxers, the Spanish Mastiff, Great Dane, Old English Bulldog, Bull Terrier, Great Pyreneese, Pointer, Irish Wolfhoud and Dogue De Bordeaux.

And what about the Golden retriever? We want a slimmer labrador with a longer golden coat.

So what do we do?

We mix the labrador with the Irish setter and voilá - Golden Retriever.

As I said there is nothing wrong with mixing breeds provided that this is done carefully, for a good purpose and with the dogs health in mind.

All pitbull type of dogs are the result of crossing many different breeds so razor edge pit bulls are just another evolution of of the mixing process.

They might not be American Pitbull Terriers but they surely are bullies.
