Rottweiler vs Pitbull who is better?
Rottweiler vs Pitbull which one is a better dog?
But the natural question when is comes to rottweiler vs pitbull is better for what?
Ok let´s compare these two breeds which are often missunderstood by the media and general population.
Remember that nowdays pitbulls are the villans, in the 90ies it was rottweilers.
Dogs: 35-65 pounds (16-29 kg)
Bitches: 30-50 pounds (14-23 kg)
Dogs 95-130 pounds (43-59 kg)
Bitches 85-115 pounds (38-52 kg)
One of the main differences between a rottweiler and a pitbull is that the first is a great guard dog and that the pitbull is not.
Rotties have an instinct to guard and protect their property. This instinct is comparable as to a cocker spaniel when it comes to hunting birds.
On the other hand pitbulls have been breed to be human friendly and there are many pitbull breeders that will tell you that if a burglar would enter their home it could walk away with their dog no problem.
This is not to say that pitbulls cannot be trained as guard dogs. It´s just that you need more training because you don´t have a strong instinct to work with from the start.
Some pits could never make good guard dogs, just as some pits will never get along with other dogs.
Yes, pitbulls are more human friendly (with strangers) than rotties.
Now if you are a very active person it is known that pitbulls (with exceptions of the staffordshire bull terrier) are better than rotties.
In front of me I am reading the September issue of the Runner´s Magazine which includes a special report on running with your dog.
Many breeds are mentioned according to the different type of runs.
Pitbulls are in the "brisk shorter runs" category and rotties are...wait it´s not mentioning them. I guess they should be in the long slow runs with the labradors...
So pitbulls are better for faster runs (less than 10 kilometers) and rotties for slow long distance.
And to those who wanted to know who would win in a fight, I am sorry to say that since I hate dogfighting I won´t touch on this repulsive subject...
